Sotheby’s and The Distillers’ Charity Extend "One of One" Luxury Whisky Auction Partnership Through 2033

On Wednesday morning, April 22, The Distillers’ Charity—a Scottish organization dedicated to youth training and education—announced the extension of its partnership with Sotheby’s for an additional four luxury whisky auctions. Under this renewed agreement, the London-based auction house will manage the Distillers One of One auctions until 2033, with Whisky Magazine continuing as the official media partner. The next biennial auction is scheduled for October 2027.

Proven Success and Social Impact

Sotheby’s hosted the inaugural three auctions in 2021 at Barnbougle Castle and in 2023 and 2025 at Hopetoun House. Together, these events achieved the following milestones:

  • Total Funds Raised: £6.6 million ($8.4 million).
  • Youth Impact: Support provided to over 4,500 disadvantaged young people across Scotland.
  • Industry Participation: 49 companies donated a total of 120 lots.
  • Global Reach: Bidders participated from more than 20 countries.
  • Market Records: 72 individual brand auction records were established.
  • Unparalleled Rarity: Organizers emphasized that “no two bottles are ever the same, and no lot will ever be recreated.”

The Distillers’ Charity, which celebrated its 70th anniversary last year, serves as the philanthropic arm of the Worshipful Company of Distillers. This historic London livery company traces its origins back to 1638.
